Hello
I would like to know why I can't attach a dimension between the edges of a main view and its view of another position?
Example: I want to dimension the opening angle of an arm, so I created a configuration with an open arm and when drawing I position a standard view (Closed arm) to which I add a view of another position (Open arm). When it's time to dimension, I click on an edge of the standard view and then on the edge of the view of another position. The problem is that he doesn't want to select her. In other words, BIG problem for me.
If you have a hose?
PS: I'm on Solidworks 2016
Hello
Look this way. It is not possible to create a dimension between 2 views but by circumventing the problem as explained, it does it well.
Kind regards
Hello
can you put a view.
may the force be with you.
Unfortunately, this problem happens.
@d.Roger: The "view from another position" is a particular view that combines 2 views into one. We are therefore not exactly in the case cited.
Nevertheless, the proposed solution of going through sketches in the view can work.

Yes indeed it doesn't work.
A solution may be to draw a straight point point and then dimension.
may the force be with you.
For your information, it was quite feasible under Solidworks 2012.
The proof in pictures and without hacks!

Hello
You just need to click on the two strokes and convert the entities, and then you can dimension the angle between your two pieces.

Yes, it's not quite the same case but it's a possible solution since the dimension on the projected elements of the 3D doesn't work:
2 small stretches of the right constrained as it should be and then the dimension piloted between these 2 segments.
And yes it's a hack...
On the next page http://help.solidworks.com/2012/french/SolidWorks/sldworks/Alternate_Position_View.htm, if you want to change the version of SW, you have more help on the function....
Kind regards

Maybe even a single line segment would suffice.

Your solution works ac cobra nevertheless it is still a hack and it's a shame when you think that in 2012 it was possible!! Finally thank you for all the guys.

It's true that it's DIY; I advise you to make an improvement request on the Solidworks portal explaining the problem and attaching the 2012 files that work and those of 2016 that don't.
