Cross-section view with two configurations in SolidWorks

Hello everyone,
On a drawing, I would like to create a section view showing two configurations simultaneously.
For a classic view (front, top, etc.), no problem: I use the "View from another position" function.

However, when I create a section view from this view, only one of the two configurations appears. I can't find a way to display the second configuration as transparency or overlay in the section view.

Do you have a solution or method to achieve this?

Hello,

It's a software limitation so not possible natively (under 2020 anyway).

You can possibly superimpose and align 2 cross-sectional views (it may be boring). You will also have to manually put a font on one of the 2 views.

In the same way as @froussel
On the other hand, I will create a model in the assembly in envelope mode that you can hide or show as you wish by clicking on the view or to allow the visibility of this envelope assembly.
But I have a doubt about the possibility of showing the envelope in a section: thinking:, to be tested. But if it doesn't work a model in the desired configuration, insert and exclude from the nomenclature.

It may be related to the rules of industrial designs: what type of lines do you put for the second position in section???

As @froussel says, drawing rules are the rule that normally limits certain possibilities.
Have you tried envelope mode?

In the main view below, in the view property, it is possible to check the box

Then in the cup the box is checked

In your 3D you insert the part in the desired configuration and in the selected part property envelope

The part changes visual property and an envelope appears in the tree
image

The method works for me

  1. The main room
    2) the envelope coin appears in a different font

And if you don't like the stroke style, you can change it in the document options

Or directly from the tree structure, with the possibility of changing the color via a layer
