Managing Tap Sizes in the SW2017 Wizard

Hi all

Best wishes for 2021!

Is it possible to manage the list of tap sizes in order to complete it?

Thank you in advance for your contributions,

It's possible: you have to go through "Toolbox settings" in Solidworks Tools on the Windows start menu.
Good luck

Bjr Stefbeno,

I can see, I launched the utility and chose my list but I can't update.

FYI, the toolbox is not installed on my machine, I work with a standard SW2017!

Bjr D.Roger,

As I wrote above, I don't have a toolbox installed!

Hello @patrick.rousere

I don't think you can via your standard version of SW

since it does not exist on this version

so I don't see how you can do it

on the other hand you can create a personal library of screws and nuts

via among other things the families of parts

Bjr gt22,

Yes, I think I'll leave it at that and be content with what I have.

I don't really like families of rooms.

Thank you for your answers.

From what I understand you managed to launch the parameterization utility but you can't change the values, wouldn't the parameterization files be read-only at any rate?

I can't test but for the record here is what is marked in the help:

Kind regards

What are you missing in terms of size?
Apart from a few very special cases, I get by by juggling with the standards provided (ISO, DIN, etc)

M12x175

D.roger,

Thank you for the manipulation. But it brings me to the same result. I edit the list well but impossible to update.

Even if it is not necessary for Tollbox to be installed, you may need to have the right SW or "pro" level at least.

Indeed, when I am on the menu of the wizard for the piercing, I only have access to the first menu (underlined in attachment)!

The standard you are trying to modify must be read-only (SW standard ), have you tried by copying this standard and then modifying this copy:

I only stayed on step 1 - Piercing assistance to take the screenshots above.

Kind regards

Hello

Are you an administrator of your position?

I had the same problem as you without admin rights on my workstation

As mentioned by @stefbeno steps in the various standards are sufficient in 99% of cases.

For a step of M12x1.75 you just have to take the ISO standard and choose M12 (the step is not marked by what the standard step is)

On the other hand, it is perfectly possible to add additional sizes in the toolbox even without having the pro version.

Hello everyone,

I have created a copy but I don't have the possibility to reassign the values.

FYI, I'm an Admin of my machine.

Slts,

Bjr sbadenis,

precisely, the M12x1.75 is not a standard that is not in my work list. That's why I became interested in the subject.

If you know how to use the toolbox without a pro version, I'm all for it!

Slts, PR

The M12x175 is available in the "Ansi Metric" standard

No need to go to the "Ansi Metric" standard, the M12x1.75 being the big pitch (standard), it is the M12 that is indicated without further information in the DIN standard chosen by patrick.rousere.

For the record, for large pitches the indication of the P pitch is optional.

Kind regards

Quite @d.roger that's more or less what I wrote in my post, we agree!

Thank you d.roger and stefbeno for your insights, I'll stick to the use of the DIN and ANSI metric category.

Yours truly,
