What is the difference between a room with configurations and Driveworks?

Hi all

I've looked at the different tutorials on part configurations and on DriveworksXpress but I'm a little lost, Driveworks allows you to control part configurations?

But then, when should you use the ConfigurationManager rather than DriveworksXpress?

Thank you!

Thank you for your links, but what do you personally think of the sustainability of such a tool? I saw that this tool had been created by an external company and then integrated into Solidworks.

for the perinity no problem it's not the only tool integrated in SW which is a plus for SW

so not about to disappear in my humble opinion

which of + is if it is integrated at one time or another it will be the same box

EADS will buy if it has not already done so as other companies have been bought

DriveWorksXpress vs. Part Families

Why should I use DriveWorksXpress over parts families?

File sizeDriveWorksXpress creates new files that are kept to a minimum.
Ease of useNew variants can be easily created. Customer templates and drawings are easy to manage.
ScalabilityProjects can be modified in a scalable way as needs change over time.
Automatic drawingsUnique drawings can be created automatically for any assembly or part.
Rules-based steeringRules determine the value or calculation required to drive a given parameter. Rules and calculations that affect multiple parts and assemblies can be easily linked in the Rule Editor.

Hello

I didn't know... I'll say again that you learn a lot of things with Lynkoa...

I'm going to look at that. However, some of you use it?

Driveworks works like a database.

You set up your entire room, then driveworks does automatically, updates the 3d and creates a drawing.

You'll use driveworks if your part can be set to 100%. This will save you time, just answer the questionnaire you have created and everything is done automatically.

It's easy to have to touch each side manually or to look in the equations.

Driveworks is not used much in France (lack of training or other) but is very heavily used in the rest of the world.

I advise you to train yourself on this, it's very interesting.

Here is a fairly simple tutorial

I'm going to make a joke @ Bart you write

So I'm asking you the question

is SolidWorks a parametric software ;-)

@Gt22, there is a difference between having to click on all the sides to change them by hand and answering a simple questionnaire as soon as the room is opened.

On the other hand, as Driveworks works like a database, when your part is defined with the parameters you want to move, there is no way to go back. Unless we re-register this piece under another database.

Not very clear but I understand myself^^

The best is still paint for mep, isn't it GT?

At any time you can come back to the SW part or assembly

and change or add, modify X config, the number, the length, the angles, everything and anything, if you want

and I'm not talking about DriveWorksPro

Watch this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OJKzfuDrps

and automatically they will be in the driveworks dialog box

it's an interactive complement

With driveworks pro surely, I don't know^^

But with drivewroks xpress which is free, I don't think it's possible, unless you change the name of your piece.

After that, there is the solution of driving your room by a personalized property questionnaire.

It's halfway between driveworks and a part parameterized with config and quation

And damn, I selected a better answer unintentionally . . .

First of all, thank you all for your answers,

@Bart, when you talk about custom property questionnaires, is it with the ConfigurationManager?

No, with the Property Form Editor that can be found in the Windows Start menu
