Convert what?
But parts are already sheet metal parts.
Convert what?
But parts are already sheet metal parts.
So do see a right-click on welded parts lists and then see if you have the little checkmark in front of Create a welded parts list and update automatically. See PJ
Which version are you on???
My model is already set by default this way.
I'm using the 2017 version.
Can you put me a screen print of your creation tree?
There is also the possibility via the mycad tools to retrieve properties of the sheet metal via smartproperties (I get the max length and max width of a sheet metal side by this means)
As you have access to these third-party tools, it's up to you to see the easiest solution for you.
When you right-click on Welded parts list article1, do you have the summary of the list as in the attachment???
I don't get the info either with your nomenclature, there must be a difference in the model of part or assembly.
With your BOM template I get the same result as in your tutorial by making the BOM on a part. But like you, my result is on two lines.
When carrying out your bill of materials on an assembly, I have no return values for the parameter "Raw sheet metal sidewall area".
I don't know if it is possible to display the properties of a part body in an assembly BOM.
I think the easiest solution would be to make a note as shown at the beginning of the post and link this note to a custom property that you can retrieve in your nomenclature.
That's why I originally tried to find this property in the properties of my part without having to make a nomenclature.
Do you want the surface of the whole room or just on one side?? Because in properties there is the total area of the room with all the openings. I checked manually.
I need the flat sheet metal surface to determine my raw material consumption.
To retrieve this value without going through a table, there are 2 solutions:
- the 1st is to go through a third-party software smartproperties (as mentioned above) and smartproperties must be launched and retrieves the value from you when you launch it and creates a property that you can then retrieve in an MEP or nomenclature...
See attached image
- The 2nd is to go through macros and develop but for that I couldn't help you.
If you have smartproperties you have to do like @ sbadenis or else create a note in the room and transfer the result manually to a custom property that you can find in your bills of materials. It's a real shame not to be able to link a custom property to a rating when the opposite is possible!!
With the smart properties software, the value will be calculated each time the software is launched or the link is made once and the value is automatically updated?
