Retrieve sheet metal surface in configuration-specific properties

Hello

I use a part model dedicated to the creation of sheet metal parts.

By default, this model incorporates the following parameters: Item Code, Designation, Material, Thickness, and Flat Sheet Surface.

However, I am unable to retrieve the assessed value of the flat sheet metal surface that can be found in the welded parts list from this value: "SW-Flank surface of tôle@@@Article-parts-list-soudées1@Pièce4.SLDPRT".

If any of you have already been confronted with this problem and would have the solution or a possible solution, I am interested.

Thank you.

Hello

See if that's what you want to have, to put in a note and attach to the room.

Sheet Metal Sidewall Surface: $PRPWLD:"Sheet Metal Sidewall Surface"
Raw Sheet Plate Sidewall Surface: $PRPWLD:"Raw Sheet Metal Sidewall Surface"

It's in mm²

You can still find several other properties just in case and to get the links you just have to right-click on the block that has been incremented and then edit the text in the window.

Thank you for your answer. It's a good start.

But my final goal is to be able to create a bill of materials on the assembly and to easily extract the material requirements through a macro.

Total surface area of thickness A and grade X sheet metal

Total surface area of plate of thickness B and grade Y

Total surface area of thickness C and Z grade sheet

However, I can't get all the necessary information on a single line.

The marker sheet 1 is on a line, but by default SolidWorks is in multibody and I therefore find my sheet metal information on the lower "child" line, not practical at all...

Watch my tutorial.

That's exactly what I would like to do but SolidWorks doesn't offer me to choose "Properties of the welded part line"...

In my case, the "Raw sheet wall surface" property is only available through the "Custom property" column type. And I have no value in return.

If they are only "poor sheets" they must be converted into sheet metal and the menu is available. I don't understand why it only works like that!!

Convert what?

But parts are already sheet metal parts.

So do see a right-click on welded parts lists and then see if you have the little checkmark in front of Create a welded parts list and update automatically. See PJ

Which version are you on???

My model is already set by default this way.

I'm using the 2017 version.

Can you put me a screen print of your creation tree?

No worries.

There is also the possibility via the mycad tools to retrieve properties of the sheet metal via smartproperties (I get the max length and max width of a sheet metal side by this means)

As you have access to these third-party tools, it's up to you to see the easiest solution for you.

When you right-click on Welded parts list article1, do you have the summary of the list as in the attachment???

Yes.

In the "Table of welded parts" tab I have this: See PJ n°2

Try to see with my nomenclature to see what it looks like...

I don't get the info either with your nomenclature, there must be a difference in the model of part or assembly.

With your BOM template I get the same result as in your tutorial by making the BOM on a part. But like you, my result is on two lines.

When carrying out your bill of materials on an assembly, I have no return values for the parameter "Raw sheet metal sidewall area".
