DXF Viewer directly in Windows Explorer

Hello

I have a small problem that dates back a few years. I discovered lynkoa yesterday and there may be the solution here.

Does anyone know of an add-on that allows you to see 2d dxf directly from the Windows Explorer preview window?

Thank you in advance.

Ronald

Hello

I don't think it's possible. What version of WIndows is it for? And it's about the thumbnails?

Hello

I also did some research on this subject for windows 7 but without positive conclusion.

I'm on W7 pro.

Preview window so W7 or W8 (see screenshot).

I believe that it is the basic software that creates a thumbnail that is then readable by Windows.

I found this program, but I haven't tested:

FYI, it's incompatible with Windows XP.

You don't see anything on the previews. I would like something where you can view like JPG, PDF, DOC, XLS...

Small precision, I don't have autocad installed on my computer.

It's a precision that is not that small, on the other hand do you have a viewer like VoloView from Inallé?

I don't know either of them, I'll try

Draftsight is easily found, but if you can't find voloview here it is.

I just did some tests:

- SW plan exported in DXF: no preview

- SW plan: no preview

- DWG plan: OK

- pdf: OK

- jpeg (from SW): no preview

- jpeg (screenshot saved with XNview): no preview

it seems to me quite random as a way of working...

DWGSee Description

DWGSee is a useful image viewer with the DWG, DXF, and DWF extensions, which are typically used by the AutoCAD program.

The main advantage of DWGSee is that it does not require an additional program to see the vector graphics mentioned. This will save you time installing and using it.

DWGSee is ideal for those who work on architectural presentations or on specific part designs for a particular product.

In addition, with this utility you will be able to include different bookmarks and layers in your presentation, and even print only the selected region on your document.

For:
Intuitive interface
Wide format support

Against:
Doesn't allow for a lot of manual adjustments

Hello

Be careful, what appears in the preview pane is only the thumbnail saved by AutoCAD (or other software) and not a real preview such as PDF, XLS, DOC for example. In addition, this thumbnail corresponds to the reduced image of the screen at the time of backup, which is not necessarily representative of the content of the file.

But this is only for the DWG file format. This is because the DXF format does not remember this thumbnail.

Personally, I don't use the preview because it consumes a lot of resources, especially if you are on a network...

"Open and view files from AutoCAD without having AutoCAD"

Written by Michael

AutoCAD is the software reference for computer-aided industrial design, a reference used in fields as varied as the automotive or aeronautical industry, mechanics, architecture or electronics. It is a very complete software environment, quite heavy and sometimes abstruse. Extensive training may be required to begin to properly operate its core functions.

If you end up with DWG, DXF files and you don't have AutoCAD installed on your machine, you won't be able to use them or even open them. DWGSee DWG Viewer Pro is then the solution to get you out of this impasse.

Thanks to it, you will be able to view these files from the versions of AutoCAD from R 2.5 to 2010, navigate through the ramifications of the projects, print them and even add certain elements, such as labels or markers to find your way around more quickly.

You will also be able to take very precise measurements of the different elements represented in the files.
